Check for fees with other names

Search the rate details for amenity, destination, facility and mandatory daily charges. A different label does not remove a cost from your trip budget. For example, Waikiki Resort Hotel’s own FAQ lists a mandatory amenity charge; do not treat a hotel as fee-free just because the words “resort fee” are absent.

Compare the same dates, guest count, room category, payment timing and cancellation flexibility. A refundable room and a prepaid nonrefundable room are different products. A waived fee in a specific package is also different from a hotel-wide no-fee policy.

Work out the break-even room rate

For an illustrative comparison before tax, a US$300 room with a US$40 nightly mandatory fee costs the same as a US$340 room with no such fee. These are invented numbers, not quotes. If tax treatment and other inclusions match, compare those combined amounts rather than the fee in isolation.

Enter zero resort fee only when your selected rate supports it. Add hotel parking for the car days you expect, and check extra-person, cleaning and optional-service charges outside the calculator. If your quote already includes taxes and fees, avoid adding them twice.
